Because sketching has always been a favorite pass time of mine, and fashion is one of my favorite things too, I started drawing these quaint little fashion dolls and then finishing them with color on the computer. Enjoy!
So if you're anything like me, this trend might be a little bit intimidating to you. As much as I like to think I'm a fashion expert, sometimes trends scare me! If you're worried about looking like a crazed hippie, or like you forgot to change out of your pjs... don't worry, the key is to keep it simple, and ACCESSORIZE! Find some of these beauties and trust me, you wont regret it. They are likely the most comfortable pants I have ever owned! The best way to wear this trend is with a simple fitted tee, and a BIG, FUN necklace! Throw a hat or a denim jacket with it if you want to be an over-acheiver. Also, I think these are best with sandals. It is a casual look, so stay away from heels or wedges, unless you absolutely have to.
Check out how to wear these, and some links for some awesome and affordable options for this fun trend! This is my latest DIY project. I found these jeans at goodwill for $8, and made them into some cool bleached design shorts that are totally fun for summer! So here is how you make them: Lay down some plastic over the surface you're working on to protect it. Start by trying on the pants and marking where you want to cut them off. You can use any type of pants really, but I would recommend using ones that are a bit looser in the thigh so that they don't fit too tight! After you cut them, stuff some brown paper or something to block the bleach from bleeding through to the other side into the legs. Then you just need to draw out whatever design you want onto the front of the shorts. Let it sit for about 30-45 minutes. If you're using pants that are not denim, but rather a thinner fabric, let it sit for less time, because it will eat through the fabric faster. When you're ready, wash off the bleach in the sink or tub, and then throw the shorts in the wash to get out the rest of the bleach, and dry completely. Repeat process on the back of the shorts, and when they are dry, you are all finished! Enjoy!
Another awards show wrap up here, for the MTV Movie Awards that took place last night! The stars were taking a cue from the spring trends this year and taking their crop tops and longer length skirts for a spin. It definitely worked for some, but in some cases, didn't work so well. Take a look at my picks for best and worst dressed. Best DressedWorst DressedIt seems like Spring weather is finally here, and I'm starting to see a lot of fun Spring styles out there! Here's a roundup of some of my favorites, along with ways to wear them, and where to buy! Enjoy, fashionistas! So last night, my family and I had a little Oscars party. We started our night with a meal inspired by the nominated films. We were inspired by the New York vibe in Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle, and made some italian bruschetta for appetizers, a waldorf salad, and cannolis for dessert. We also had some Nebraska "corn-fed" beef, and african chicken and rice a-la Captain Phillips. Most of the time, I just want to watch the Oscars so that I can see all of the celeb's fashion choices on the red carpet. This year, I actually had seen most of the movies nominated for awards, so I was just as interested in the awards, as I was in the red carpet show. None the less, I have compiled my list of best and worst dressed from the awards. This year, I definitely noticed some distinct trends on the red carpet: Nude and blush colors mixed with rhinestones and gems on the ladies, and navy blues and black on the men. Best DressedWorst DressedIt's awards season! Last night were the Grammys and there were some interesting fashion choices... Again, I didn't actually get to watch the Grammys... :( but I dedicated my morning to researching the fashions and awards from the night. Unfortunately my worst dressed list hugely outweighs my best dressed list... There were some really bad choices out on the red carpet last night. See the slideshow a below for my picks!! Enjoy!
