My sister's birthday was this last weekend, and since she is moving into a new apartment, she asked for lots of decorations, and things to hang on the walls. So this is one of the crafts that I made for her! She asked for something like this, that she saw on pinterest, so I just tried to recreate it! Keep reading for the how-to! The best part about this project is that it was almost free! The metal strips were about $0.70 each, and the hooks were about $2. I bought the paint for $1.50, and I had the leftover canvas from another project, and the wood was free!
STEP 1: Find a piece of wood that you can use for the project. I used an old plank from our wood fence in the backyard that was not being used. You can cut it into 3 even pieces. Mine were 23 inches long. You can have a helper like me do if for you if you feel so inclined. ;) After that, use a wire brush, or a sander to clean off and even out the planks, and the edges.
STEP 2: Lay the wood out how you want it, and on the back, attach them together with something like what I used in the picture. You could use some sort of hinge also, it doesn't really matter.
STEP 3: Next, attach picture hangers to the back so you can hang it on the wall!
STEP 4: It's hard to see here, but the next step is to trace out the letters you are going to write. Also, get some paint, and a paintbrush and start to paint it.
STEP 5: So the next thing you need to do is make some fabric flowers like this. If you aren't so crafty, they do sell things like this at Michaels, or craft stores that I have seen, but if you have a glue gun, they are very simple. All you have to do is get some canvas fabric and make small cuts in the edge, like 1/2 inch into the piece, and then rip it into strips. You will want different sizes of the strips. You can then just splatter some hot glue onto the strip and twist it lengthwise. after you've twisted the strip, you'll want to spiral it and glue it together as you go. When you're done with the flowers, arrange them like in the photo above, and glue them to the board. After this, you are all done! ENJOY!
