This new DIY project might look familiar if you saw my last post about my quaint fashion doll illustrations. Instead of being inspired by clothes I own, or see online... this time, I was inspired by my drawings for a new DIY project. I've seen shirts/sweaters before with cute french sayings and have always wanted one, so my crafty mind got to work and came up with this! The best part is, it only cost a total of $12! My wallet thanks me! I found the sweater in the "basics" section at H&M for $10, and I bought the Tulip brand black matte fabric paint for $2.70. Follow the how to below! There's nothing I love more than being comfortable, while staying stylish, and with graphic tees and sweaters totally in style right now, this is the perfect DIY project. Pairing it with a pair of ripped jeans, a statement necklace and fun flats makes for a perfect glam meets rock-n-roll look! Enjoy! |
The Materials: Like I mentioned before, the materials are not only cheap to buy, but you don't need any at all! You'll need to put something like cardboard or a paper bag inside, so the paint does not bleed through. You also need a paintbrush, and the fabric paint. If you are writing a saying like me, you will either need to make a stencil or buy one to use. I just traced out some letters and cut them out of paper and traced it onto the sweater. Step 2: All you need to do now, is fill in the letters with paint. I also added some stripes on the shoulders to add a little interest. Follow the directions on your fabric paint on how to dry/wear. The Tulip brand says to let it dry flat for 4 hours, then let it cure for another 72 hours, and after that, you can wash inside out, and wear! | Step 1: Here is what it will look like when you trace the letters out. I have seen these done with all sorts of different type, so you could do cursive, or lowercase, or block letters like this. I traced it with a pen and then just covered up the pen marks with the paint. |
